With Covid 19 Restrictions Lifting, as of July 2021, VDCTraining Will be Offering Private Lessons Once More. However Classes Will Not be Made Available This Summer.
Private Lessons
Private Lessons run all year round. Initial lessons are done at the owner's home with later sessions able to be held at locations around town for added distraction and practical training possibilities.
These can be short lessons tailored to meet the individual client's needs with specific problem behaviours such as: hyper greetings, obsessive barking, pulling on the leash, and more. Or a package deal can be purchased to cover existing course sets such as the Puppy Essentials or Behaviour Training.
Fear reactive and aggressive dogs that are not able to join into a group class can greatly benefit from Private Lessons. Within the comfortable environment of their own home a dog can learn to overcome their fears and build confidence with slow exposure to new places and triggers as they develop; dominant personalities can learn to relax and ignore triggers or even become interactive in a safe and controlled manner once progress has been made.
The price is $25/hr with discounts for Package Deals at 4 and 6 lessons.

Courses / Classes
During the summer all the entry level courses will be made available as monthly classes. For the rest of the year these courses are available in Private Lessons.
Puppy Essentials (For pups 8 weeks to 4 months)
This course aims to get as much information as possible in while the puppies are young and eager to please!
Behaviour Training (For dogs 4 months+)
Get into the mind of a dog and learn how to affect their behaviour to build your bond before moving on to formal commands. This course offers a good deal of practice time to work on these foundation steps.
Basic Obedience (Behaviour Training is STRONGLY recommended before applying!)
It is time to start formal training, beginning with the 5 most common commands that are used in daily life. With each one successfully completed your bond strengthens. Once again there is an emphasis on time to practice.
Condensed Course (For dogs 4 months+)
If you want to learn as much as possible then this course is for you. Home practice time is a MUST in order to keep up with all the new information as each lesson will build on the one before it!

Tips |
During the summer group classes will be held at the Birch Island Park just outside of Clearwater BC.
The park is dog friendly; poop scoop bags are supplied at the gate, it nicely fenced in and has a great deal of space useful for classes. During the winter lessons can take place at the owner’s home or local area depending on weather conditions and training goals. |
The price is $100 total for each 4 week course; $125 for the Condensed course.
Included are the treats, toys and noisemakers used in addition to a free one hour consultation session within six months of passing the course. There is a 10% discount available for those who register 2-4 weeks in advance for group classes. Keep a look out for discount vouchers offered for special occasions. |
Get used to sounding like a crazy person! I want you to talk to your dogs, constantly.
You need to say, "Good Dog!", and, "No!", in rapid succession and Mean it each time. You will need to examine your own vocal and emotional capabilities in order to express those things to your dog properly. Instead of saying one thing in English and expressing something else. The dog will know what you really mean, or just be plain confused. |
