Training Methods

Verge of Dawn Canine Training focuses on fostering Communication, Understanding and Respect between the owner and their canine companion with a Balanced training method of praise and correction.

All courses except for Puppy Essentials use training collars (also known as slip or choke collars) with a focus on using physical and verbal praise for the reward, and verbal cues for direction and correction. Other tools may be added in to meet the individual needs of the dog/owner team, such as: treats, balls, noisemakers, ect.

However the most important "tool" in the "toolbox" remains, and must always be, the owner themselves. That is the secret to VDCTraining's methods; the personal tips, tricks and overall education of each owner in order for them to build a trusting relationship with their dog.

Honestly? The humans learn more than the dogs do!!

If a dog is unbalanced then a family is unbalanced; this can spread to friends, neighbors, co-workers and thus a whole community can be impacted by the quality of the relationship between a pet and owner. I love watching people grow in confidence as their dog calms down and responds eagerly to commands.
